Day Four: Get Your Feet Dirty

Picture
Through these activities you will learn how interconnected we are- the sun, the moon, the sky, the trees, the rivers, and the earth. Each component of our environment plays a vital role in our overall well being and the earth is an important part of that. Everything in the universe is made up of energy, including our bodies. Our bodies are constantly emitting vibrational signals and receiving them from everything around us, including the earth. In 1952 German Physicist Professor Winfried Schumann, found the earth’s conductive ionosphere to be 7.83Hz. Shortly after Shumann’s discovery, Dr. Ankermuller made the connection that our theta and alpha brain waves, the state of our mind when we are meditating or practicing mindfulness, are close to the same vibration as the earth. For thousands of years we were connected to the energy of the earth through walking on it with our bare feet or with natural soled shoes, like papyrus or leather, that didn’t interfere with being able to absorb the earth’s energy. During the industrial revolution in the late 18th century, rubber soled shoes were invented and by World War II rubber and synthetic soled shoes were commonplace. Since rubber and synthetic soles do not allow the earth’s energy to permeate through the soles, we lost that daily energetic connection with the earth and we started seeing affects on our health because of it.

“Emerging evidence shows that contact with the Earth—whether being outside barefoot or indoors connected to grounded conductive systems—may be a simple, natural, and yet profoundly effective environmental strategy against chronic stress, ANS dysfunction, inflammation, pain, poor sleep, disturbed HRV, hypercoagulable blood, and many common health disorders, including cardiovascular disease.” – Dr. Frank Sinatra, Research from the Journal of Environmental and Public Health.

Earthing allows negatively charged electrons from the Earth’s surface to transfer into our bodies. This transfer of electrons neutralizes positively charged free radicals that cause chronic inflammation, damage to our cells and DNA, and can lead to cancer and other diseases. Earthing has also been shown to have a calming effect on our overactive nervous system. It also has the potential to improve cardiovascular health through the reduction of blood viscosity (thickness).
So what are some of the effects we can see and feel from being ungrounded?

  •  Spacing out- not being able to concentrate
  •  Anxiety
  •  Worrying
  •  Ruminating or over thinking
  •  Scattered brain
  •  Distracted
  •  Inflammation
  •  Poor sleep
  •  Chronic pain
  •  Chronic fatigue
  •  Bad circulation
  • Chronic illnesses and disease like cancer

Listen to this meditation: Earthing (Grounding & Healing) by Pura Rasa

Activity: For today’s activity we’re going to get our feet dirty and let our bioelectric bodies absorb the recharging and healing energy from the earth! If you can keep up this activity for at least 15 minutes twice a day beyond today you will see improvement with your own body. There are many ways to earth, with the simplest being just putting your bare feet on the ground to literally rolling in the dirt. You can choose which technique you are feeling connected to the most below.

Dirty Feet
Put both bare feet directly on the ground. Feel the ground beneath you and envision the energetic connection you are creating with the earth. Feel the dirt between your toes and on the soles of your feet. Feel yourself becoming calmer and more centered. Don’t forget to breathe. When you are ready, focus your attention to your heart, your energy core. Imagine a white light beaming from the center of your heart down to the core of the earth creating an energetic connection between your core and the earth’s core. Try and hold this connection for as long as you can. When you are finished, thank the earth for the energy you received.

Take a Roll
Find a comfortable place on the ground where you can lay down. Start on your back and roll from side to side allowing the earth to connect with the entire length of your body and sides as you roll. Do this a few times until you have created a connection with the earth. Become still and feel yourself becoming calmer and more centered. Don’t forget to breathe. When you are ready, focus your attention to your heart, your energy core. Imagine a white light beaming from the center of your heart down to the core of the earth creating an energetic connection between your core and the earth’s core. Try and hold this connection for as long as you can. When you are finished, thank the earth for the energy you received

Write in your journal the following:

  1. How did the energy feel when your core connected to the earth’s core?
  2. Did you have any good feelings you experienced while grounding?
  3. Did you feel a sense of calmness after your grounding experience?

Share: Share a photo of your dirty feet in the Facebook group.

Recite the following affirmation out loud: “I am energized by the earth’s energy. I allow the energy to heal, recharge, and balance my bioelectric body.”
